I believe that all Williamson Countians, no matter who you are, what you look like, or where you live, should have the opportunity for a better life for themselves and their families. I value Willco's diversity, as well as the traditions, customs, and faiths of every Countian. I believe in a strong middle class, as they are the pump that primes our economy.
The county budget is a moral document, a statement of Williamson Countians' values. Our population continues growing, now estimated at 220,000. Large corporations and small businesses are locating and relocating to Willco, adding jobs and creating opportunities. Developers build new neighborhoods, driving demand for more schools and better infrastructure. The question is: How do we pay for these needed services and amenities?
I believe in investing in the future, not selling it off to the highest bidder. I believe in a well-run and fiscally responsible government. For several decades, one political party has controlled our county commission, putting ideology over workable perspectives and solutions.
The county budget is not a zero-sum game. The solution is not austerity. Willco's economic health is excellent. We are the seventh wealthiest county in the nation, and first in the state. Countians get a bargain for their lifestyles considering their meager investments, as property taxes are among the lowest in Middle Tennessee.
